Raw beginnings

It was 2007 when I started on a three year journey along the Rototai's cycle - walkway with the intention to create an orchestra of Creative People in the Bay, unfortunately it became a One Man Band.

 The local council, after a years lobbing I managed them to accept my plan. They ended up taking extra land from the farmer making a wider seven metre buffer between road and cycleway. This would only become a ugly weedy slop, I couldn't allow that and live opposite after visualizing its potential .

The first six months I donated full time,with the hope of building interest and assistance, much applause but  the change was too much for the locals, so I slowed it down for the next two and half years over 3000+hours, very little other artwork was produced. NO funding was offered outside Lethea and myself to create this

I planned to feed those using it with fruits, berries and vegetables as well as floral beauty. Along the 200 metre stretch 36 various fruit trees were planted, grateful for those who donated them, nearly all were rescues. They included - Plum, Apple, Pear, Feijoa, Fig, Peach, also citrus in Orange, Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Mandarin, and there is raspberries, black currents, and strawberries,

The Artwalk was building shape with sculptures and mosaics. Directly opposite where we lived, appropriately I constructed a stairway, (Stairway to Heaven) and mosaic it featuring Community Spirit and Peace - my purpose.

I started this project November 2007 on its first New Years Eve I spent the day on my knees literally Creating Peace on Earth, guess that is what I am here to do.Just want everyone else to join in globally.

Here are some of the other mosaics I created over the following year, took some time collecting a wide range of tiles, mirrors, coloured glass, shells, and odd sodes. Coloured mortar tints were used.

To raise the Spirit in community I felt it was needed to bring in the Kundalini Experience, beautiful glass beads artist / healer Kelcey donated with great gratitude to create the Rainbow Serpent. The wording I used wasn't set to any religious dogma just set to rhythms of life, often music lyrics.

Now the grand feature of the mosaics is the VIP's throne. Everyone that sit on it is a Very Important Person. I was gifted this wonderful antique Queen Ann double couch, so I had to do something extra special. Still haven't completed it, the couch itself will be grand, anyone sitting on it will feel Royal, Kings & Queens.

Still gathering jewellery metalic metals, gold, silver all stops will go out here. The first step to the throne reads   "The most important person in the world is YOU" to be done in mirror to reflect who ever steps on it. The second step read "You are the center of the Universe" so by the time you sit you should feel on top of the world.

The VIP's throne is a Sacred Site in that I hold ashes from a few people who have past on that poured their Loving energy into the project, Dave Whittika donated the weedeater that I use to maintain lawns, Brad Heising, Dale Ekmanis and...    
         The couch itself once completed in its glory that will have the Divine Female & Male holding hands over the Golden Heart will become the Love Couch as it will emanate Love to all that sit on IT.

This was achieved throughout 2009. The following year even though I moved away from the neighbourhood,  I continued developing terraced rock gardens and more mosaic features . Ayt one stage I gained assistance from the Corrections from people serving community hours. This helped in weeding and weed eating (mowering) keeping it well maintained. I eased off some in 2011 and have recently returned to polish it up again.
